"Unveiling the Ultimate Overlanding Experience: Exploring New Mexico en Route to Overland West Expo"

Updated: Oct 4, 2023

Overlanding In Southern New Mexico
New Mexico

Overland Expo West is the ultimate gathering for adventure enthusiasts and overlanders. This year, I packed my bags and headed out from Texas to attend this incredible event. Little did I know that the journey would take me through some of the most breathtaking landscapes in the Southwest.

On my way to Overland Expo West, I decided to take a detour and explore the Cibola and Gila National Forests in New Mexico. The forests cover a vast area, encompassing over 2 million acres of rugged terrain, deep canyons, and high mountains. I knew I was in for an adventure and the Ultimate Overlanding Experience .

The first stop on my journey was the Cibola National Forest. I was blown away by the diversity of the landscape, with everything from alpine forests to desert plains. I spent hours exploring the forest with my Nissan Frontier through the winding trails.

I headed to the Gila National Forest after I left the Overland Expo West, which is known for its ancient cliff dwellings and hot springs. I spent my days exploring and learning about the history of the indigenous people who once lived there.

One of the highlights of my journey was the opportunity to map the Cibola and Gila National Forests for OnX Offroad Armed with my GPS and a map, I set out to document every trail, and landmark in the forests. It was a challenging task, but also incredibly rewarding. I felt like I was contributing to the preservation of these incredible landscapes, and I was able to explore parts of the forests that few people have ever seen.

Feeling rejuvenated and inspired by the beauty of the Southwest. The journey had been long and challenging, but it was also one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I can't wait to go back and explore more of this incredible region.
